In case you didn’t know, The Originals was nominated for an award in the 66th primetime Emmys. Was it for Joseph Morgan’s gripping performance as the ferocious-yet-vulnerable tyrant, Klaus Mikaelson? Was it for all those brilliant supernatural effects and monstrous stunts? The compelling storytelling? Unfortunately, it’s none of the above. But take heart, brave viewers, because the Emmy’s committee has recognized another aspect of the TVD spinoff we tend to overlook: the hairstyles!
No, this is not a joke. The Originals’ hairstylists, Colleen Labaff and Kimberley Spiteri — along with those working on shows such as Downton Abbey, Games of Thrones, Mad Men, and Boardwalk Empire — are in the running for “Outstanding Hairstyling For A Single-Camera Series.” And you know what? We’ll take it. A huge congratulations goes out to these talented ladies!
